Gaming experience
Switching from the 16:9 format to 21:9 gives a completely different result.
The curved screen offers better viewing angles than a flat display would, and the 144 Hz refresh rate gives you a fluid gaming experience, where you will not face any noticeable lag when playing.
Even though we are dealing with a VA panel, the overall gaming performance of this display is really nice if you consider the MSRP, and even some of the noticeable drawbacks of choosing a VA panel over IPS were virtually non-existent here. The slight smearing is mainly noticeable in darker scenes and at high frame rates (assuming FreeSync is enabled).
In FPS games, you just fall in love with the huge amount of FOV, but in competitive games like CS: GO the 21:9 format isn’t optimal. The CU34G2X managed to achieve what I have not seen on my current monitor (16:9 27” 165 Hz). It surrounded me with the world of the games I was playing, which allowed me to see more and feel more. This significantly deepened immersion and improved the gaming experience. On a side note, G Sync technology did work, largely mirroring the FreeSync experience, including the option for HDR to be used at the same time.
