When I received the package, I was genuinely amazed by the size of it. The AOC CU34G2X comes in a box that could easily hold the total contents of a nice shoe cabinet.

Even taking the monitor out of the box was a bit more challenging than I what I was used to because the polystyrene case kept getting caught on the handles in the box. Ok, let’s take a brief look at the accessories before I show you the display itself. The AOC CU34G2X comes with everything you need for a fast display connection.

Besides the device, inside the package the owner will find the following:

  • Monitor stand (the CU34G2X has a standard 100 mm x 100 mm VESA mount.)
  • Power cable;
  • 1.8 m HDMI cable;
  • 1.8 m Display Port cable version 1.2;
  • Manual;
  • Factory calibration report.

It’s strange that there’s no USB3.0 Type-B cable for connecting the USB hub to the monitor.

Appearance and ergonomics

In an attempt to make the product stand out from its competition in terms of appearance, AOC decided to use a slightly more dynamic (gamers-focused?) design by putting some red accents here and there, but you won’t find any sharp angles or flamboyant RGB lighting here. This is a monitor dedicated to gamers, but there is no question of any eye-candy or flashiness. The manufacturer boasts that the monitor was made in frameless technology, which is also a big plus as far as the visual aspect is concerned, but I can’t really say that this looks good enough in practice to call the monitor fully frameless. The frames are extremely thin, but still visible, with an 8 mm bezel at the top and a 24 mm one at the bottom.'

This is a good and sleek-looking screen, with a mostly black, plastic exterior and accents in a deep metallic red, especially at the back (which you’ll see on the same page).

The controls come in the form of 5 mechanical keys on the front side (including the power button). They are rather small and recessed.

The CU34G2X has a standard 100 mm x 100 mm VESA mount. The stand base is a star-shaped design, with 2 longer front feet and 2 short rear feet. It is very solid, with a metal base, so it should be really stable. There is a cut-out in the actual stand for cable management.

Installation of the two pieces doesn’t even require any tools. Just click the stand into the back of the display, and then use the built-in thumbscrew to attach the legs. It’s a really fast process. You can swivel the screen 32 degrees left or right around the stand, and raise the panel 130 mm up and down. You can also tilt the screen 4 degrees forwards or 24 degrees backward.

The backside of the AOC CU34G2X is made of black plastic, with a few dark-red, satin-finish plastic elements. There’s also the manufacturer's logo in the top section.

The curve of the screen is 1500R, and it’s a good choice for a monitor of this size.
