Specifications and Features

So the sample that has arrived in our test lab is the 256 GB version of the drive. The WRK series will come with MLC writable Synchronous NAND flash memory deriving from Micron (yet a customized order), utlizing the new Silicon Motion SM2246EN controller.

Angelbird pairs the SM2246EN controller with 20nm 128Gbit NAND flash. Depending on the volume size this will give these series a maximum sequential read speed of give or take 560 MB/s.

  • The sequential write speed on the 128GB model is very poor at 150 MB/s
  • The 256GB model that we have at hand today is rated at roughly 300 MB/s.
  • The 512GB version will be writing much faster at up-to 445 MB/sec.

The random read performance at QD32 is 68k for the 128GB model and 76k on the 256GB model. Random writes are 67k for the 128GB model and 72k on the 256GB model.
