DX11: Metro 2033 - The Last Refuge

Metro 2033 is about a horrible post-apocalyptic world of 40000 people. They have been living in the metro of a big ex-USSR city Moscow, for 20 terrible years. Nuclear war destroyed their homeland. These people are the last representatives of mankind - the human cycle of evolution nears its end, new species (very ugly) appear on the surface of the Earth and deep inside the metro.

Metro 2033 supports a number of advanced DX11 features with the latest generation of DX11 graphics cards. Users with DX11 cards will experience advanced Depth of Field effects as well as Full Tessellation on character models, according to THQ.

Now we measure things in DX11 mode only, it's a choice we made. Above are some performance numbers based on the different image quality settings. The card has a rough time, but that goes for any graphics card really. Image quality settings are maxed out, we are in DX11 mode and have AAA anti-aliasing activated. NVIDIA's performance with Kepler GPUs has been weak with this title.

Anno 2070

It's 2070 and the world has changed. The seas rising level has harmed the coastal cities and climate change has made large stretches of land inhospitable. In Anno 2070 the game offers a new world full of challenges, where you will need to master resources, diplomacy and trade in the most comprehensive economic management system seen yet in the Anno series.

This particular test has enabled:

  • DX11
  • Very high quality mode with in-game AA and AF enabled.

Our scores are average framerates so you need to keep a margin in mind for lower FPS at all times. As such we say 40 FPS for this game should be your minimum, while 60 FPS (frames per second) can be considered optimal.

Now check it out, Anno 2070 is quite CPU dependant, you can tell that the main focus has been 19x10/12 for optimizations. That's an intersting bump in performance.
