Product Showcase - AMD Series APU
Here you can see the AMD Athlon X4 845. We can see the laser inscription on the APU, it's a quad-core Carrizo based processor what you can house onto an FM2 based motherboard.
As stated these desktop processors need to be paired with an FM2 based motherboard, warning do upgrade your BIOS before seating the new processor.
Our processor has a maximum clock frequency of 3.8 GHz on all four CPU cores yet it only consumes 65 Watts. Our boxed version comes with the new cooler, the upgraded models are more silent and do cool very well. Our processor never passed 45 Degrees C.
The mainboard we use is a Mini ITX based one from MSI - AMD has send along Radeon series memory. With 2x4 GB DIMMs. These are of course optimized for the AMD platforms to ensure maximum compatibility. A cheap motherboard is like 39 EUR and the processor 69 bucks + you gain SATA3, Gigabit Ethernet, audio, proper monitor outputs and so on. Quite impressive actually.
