PCMark 2004PCMark04 is an application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of including very large applications or using specifically created code. This allows PCMark04 to be a smaller installation as well as to report very accurate results. As far as possible, PCMark04 uses public domain applications whose source code can be freely examined by any user.

PCMark 2004 has a soft-spot for Intel processors. The scores in favor of Intel CPU's can relate to two things, Hyper-threading technology and the other, clock for clock performance. It's multi-threading sensitive though and that clearly shows with the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 processor which kills off anything in it's path

Bare in mind that these are synthetic benchmarks. They really do not tell us that much do they? More reliable is the next benchmark ..

PCMark 2005

Much like PCMark04 PCMark is an application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring overall PC performance. The benefit of the 2005 edition is that it can measure dual-core technology much better. The software is a good indication of what to expect from future application.

Very few tests sorry .. but I included it to show off that a faster clocked Single Core CPU (FX-57) has no chance at all with the lower clocked Dual Core FX-60.
