Overclocking an Athlon 3000G

Overclocking test

We have overclocked the processor to find out how much more you can squeeze out of the attractively priced AMD processor. As you guys know, overall the overclocking potential is somewhat disappointing: because the processors are already pushed and binned close to their maximum. let alone more cores create a lot of tweaking complications.

So I did not have a lot of time available, so I decided to brute-force things bit, and applied a voltage of 1.45 volts, we got reached stability at 4100 MHz.

  1. Enable and start at 3700 MHz (we ended at 41 Multiplier)
  2. Apply 1.45 to the CPU (or simply leave it at auto)
  3. Work your way upwards from there until the system becomes unstable and then back down at least 100 MHz.
This resulted in a score of 440 points coming from 398 (CB15), well .. not bad eh ?
