Introducing the S90 Lite a PCIe 4.0 solid-state drive with read and write speeds of 5000 megabytes per second and 4500 megabytes per second, respectively, from Addlink. The maximum random read and write rates are 800,000 operations per second, respectively. The controller in question is a Phison E21, which has error correction and data protection as standard features. The drive is offered in three different capacities: 500GB, 1TB and 2TB The average amount of time that passes between failures is around 1.5 million hours. Prices and release dates have not been published at this time.

Phison 5021-E21

The Phison PS5021-E21 is a new PCI-Express 4.0 controller from the company, which is designed to be a low-cost option with four flash channels and support for TLC and QLC NAND. It is designed for DRAM-free operation and supports the NVMe 1.4 protocol. The controller is built at TSMC Taiwan using a 12 nanometer process which results in performance and power gains of around 25% when compared to the E19T.

The E21T has a similar design as its predecessors, consisting of a 4-channel controller operated by a single ARM core and Phison's proprietary coprocessors. However, the performance has been greatly improved and can now compete with high-end controllers like the E16 in terms of peak throughput. However, it's important to note that the real-world performance on heavy workloads may still be slower due to the downsides of a DRAMless controller design.
