The following images were taken at high-resolution and then cropped and scaled down. The camera used was a Canon DSLR shooting 24 MegaPixel photos. Right then, off we go.
The sample we have at hand is the 480GB model. Performance is listed as 3200 MB/s for reads and 1700 MB/sec for writes with roughly 280 IOPS at 4k random writes QD32 aligned disk access with our tested model. The smallest 240GB version is slower in writes, please refer to that specs on page two on that for more information.
Above, the tested unit; you should easily be able to place the M.2 unit into a compatible motherboard. Most Z97/X99/Z170/Z270/Z370 X299 and for AMD X370 / X470 / X399 boards support 100%. You should, however, check out with the motherboard manufacturer if you have an x4 lane PCIe 3.0 version with NVMe support so that you can benefit from the full available bandwidth and thus performance.
The compact M.2 2280 form factor ensures compatibility with next-generation desktop and mobile platforms that support the M.2 PCIe slot and interface. The PCB color is nice and black. Each side holds a DRAM cache chip and two NAND ICs (on each side). And yes, you can alternatively mount a supplied heatspreader.
ADATA offers a 5-year limited warranty, with a rated 320 Terabyte written for this 480GB unit. Let's zoom in a bit more at the actual components slapped onto that PCB though.
