So the modules we are testing today are one of A-Data's triple channel memory DIMM kits. Let's have a look at packaging and modules.

Packaging, hey we show you everything my man. You better get some scissors mate :)

This is the 6GB 1600+ MHz kit which falls under the 'extreme edition' memory series. The DIMMs come with standard green PCB and heat spreaders made out of aluminum for better heat conductivity.

A rather nice threesome. This kit can manage latencies of 8-8-8-24 at a 1T command rate / 1.65 Volts, which is fairly nice really. The SKU codename for the product is AD31600E002GM(O)U3K.

  • 6144 Megabytes of DDR3 memory
  • 3x 2GB modules
  • 1600MHz DDR3
  • CL 8-8-8-24
  • Available in 6GB (3x2048) Triple Channel Optimized Kits
  • Unbuffered
  • 1.65 Volts ~ 1.85 Volts
  • 240 Pin DIMM
  • Lifetime Warranty

Very simple stuff but details of the modules and timings can be read from a small sticker. You can spot the timings number and generic info on there. Also info like, latencies are displayed. It's good to see Voltages being reported on there as well.

Here we have a red heatspreader which is designed to enhance heat dissipation. A good thing here, it's designed to be low profile. The idea is that heat is moved away from the actual memory chips and this increases potential overclocking and stability.

Once you boot-up The SPD is programmed to JEDEC standard latency 1333Mbps timing of 9-9-9-24 at 1.5V. So you need to get into the BIOS, set memory voltage at 1,.65V and insert 8-8-8-24 timings and a 1T command rate.

The module is composed of sixteen 128Mx8 bits CMOS DDR3 SDRAMs in FBGA package and one 2Kbit EEPROM in 8pin TDFN package on a 240pin glassepoxy printed circuit board.

Here we have it live and active in our test system. Looking good for sure. The UV light on the right is killing the photo a little though.
