Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 01/09/2006 09:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Armed with the feature packed HiS solution, a new ringbus memory controller, 256MB memory, a very decently performing shader model 3 function and HDR capable mid-range graphics core, this product is called the Radeon X1600 XT ICEQ ITURBO. Not only is it a very decent gaming videocard, but is also HD ready for HDTV playback in both display, playback, en/decoding capability. Extensive anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering and the ability to connect LCD screens with resolutions up-to 2560x1600 are just some of the other features of this card. Read article

XFX GeForce 6800 GS XXX Edition

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/08/2005 09:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
A couple of weeks ago we reviewed a GeForce 6600 from that wicked company called XFX. One week later NVIDIA however decided to throw in their Christmas release and lifted up the spirit by releasing a new model graphics card, the GeForce 6800 GS. Since we like XFX so much and since this is going to be a hell-of-a popular graphics card for a lot of people in that Christmas spirit, we just had to take a peek at another GeForce 6800 GS. GeForce 6800 XT from Galaxy

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/23/2005 09:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Oy ! .. did you know that NVIDIA silently introduced yet another graphics card from their Popular Series 6 ? Seriously Sam .. I'm not kidding ! It's a new product targeting mainstream the mainstream (affordable) market. NVIDIA did this once before with the rather popular GeForce 6800 LE, the company did not make any announcements on the it. Meanwhile NVIDIA's partners in stealth mode introduce this particular product onto the market. The new element in our gaming fun is called the GeForce 6800 XT. Read article

GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB (SLI)

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/14/2005 09:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
What we are going to do today is have a look at not just one, but two GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB cards. One is a reference card, one is a manufacturer (Point of View) release. We of course test both cards individually, but also in SLI mode. Next to that we are going to have a look at how the cards perform on the more affordable AMD 64 Athlon 4000 processor and then replace that processor with a way too expensive Athlon FX-57 processor. By doing this, we will bring you an overview of how important high-end processors are for high-end graphics cards these days. It's actually a necessity if you are opting for SLI Read article

Tagged with a sales price of roughly 250 EUR or 275 USD for the 256 MB models there now is another product available in that very broad range of Series 6 product from NVIDIA. Today's product is the GeForce 6800 GS, feature wise 100% similar to any GeForce 6800 product yet performance and pricing wise it sits between the 6800 and 6800 GT. Interesting ? You can find it out by reading this 15 page article. Read article

XFX GeForce 6600 256 MB gDDR2

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/02/2005 09:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Today's product originates from XFX. They have a well known reputation and have established a strong seat here in the European distribution channel. In fact, they where voted number 1 graphics card manufacturer here in the Netherlands. It has been several years since we reviewed their last product (GeForce 4200), so why not give the honor to them this time. The card tested today is of course developed under codename NV43 and make no mistake, it's the same GPU that you and I have known for a long time. The big difference is that gDDR2 memory I was rambling about in the introduction. Read article

HiS Radeon x800 GT & GTO 256MB

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 10/27/2005 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Literally days before the moment that ATI release their all new X1000 series of graphics cards two refresh products of the X800 family where released. A couple of weeks ago we already showed you a preview based on an engineering sample of the Radeon X800 GT. Today our good friends from HiS send in the final production sample of the x800 GT, brilliant and price competitive card with the fantastic ICeQ-II cooler. But ... during all the refresh product madness something else happened .. another product in the X800 range entered the market, namely the x800 GTO. Confused ? Don't worry you are on Guru3D.com .. we have both final products here in the lab and of course we'll show you exactly the difference. Since I wanted this review to be published two weeks ago yet time as always was an issue please understand that today's article is not our usual standard of reviews, it's a tad shorter yet I'll absolutely cover all the essential stuff for you, for both cards that is. In today's article we'll present you the entire range of the series X1000 products as ATI has introduced the low-level X1300 (codename RV515) series, for the mid range (mainstream) products a really cute X1600 (R530) series and for the true high-end geeks like yours truly of course an animal in the wild kingdom that we call the graphics card arena, yes the X1800 (R520) series. GeForce 6600 GT Dual BIOS Smart Flash

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/28/2005 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Face it there is a 2% crowd among us that constantly is overclocking, tweaking and BIOS modifying their graphics card. Galaxy figured .. well there is a gap in the market let do something about it. I honestly respect companies that go for innovation and closely monitor the user experience. Quite honestly back in march I figured that the product although innovative would never hit retail as the demand would be way too small. I still think that Galaxy will have a tremendously hard time selling this product but despite my sentiment they did release the product and today we are testing it. Read article

GeForce 7800 GT Triple (SLI) Round Up

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/10/2005 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
In today's article we will show you three GeForce 7800 GT cards plus their results in both single and SLI mode. The cards are a reference model from NVIDIA, one from eVGA and one from Point of View. The GTX is a raw 3D rendering beast, but it's an expensive beast for sure. The 7800 GT my friends is over 150 bucks cheaper at 449 USD making this one attractive buy. One rumor was wrong for sure though ... the 7800 GT is SLI compatible, that means you can upgrade and scale up that 3D rendering horse powered gaming rig of yours. Read article

ATI Radeon x800 GT

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/06/2005 10:48 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
The product that we are testing today is the Radeon x800 GT as manufactured by HiS. It's expected to sell at half the price of the 16 pipe Radeon x800 XL yet also has half the rendering power with 8 Pixel pipelines and thus becomes a more affordable section. With no less than eight pixel pipelines and six vertex engines this is in fact a product that can compete with those adored GeForce 6600 GT. Read article

Almost two weeks ago we brought you a review on the NVIDIA reference model GeForce 7800 GTX. It became obvious that the new powerhouse, which is NVIDIA's newborn is top of the crop, king of the hill, best of the rest. The thing however is ... it can get even faster. You all know very well that this card is SLI capable. Suffice to say that last week I received a GeForce 7800 GTX from another manufacturer. Today we are providing you with a full SLI review. Two graphics cards connected together in a PC, arming you with even more rendering power. Twice the power equals double the fun right ? Read article

Albatron PC6800 - Wise Fan III + Heat Pipe

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 06/28/2005 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
When I was at the CeBIT 2005 earlier this year, a couple of things caught my attention, and I'm not 'just' talking about the beautiful booth babes here. We see a new trend in the industry, product differentiation , set yourself on another spot in the market to get more reputation and expand your diversity. Albatron, a good partner for Guru3D.com, has always been a trendsetter in that respect. This year when I walked by their booth something caught my attention. A GeForce 6800 with passive cooling ... yet it was not 100% passive. Weird yes ? Basically two cooling technologies combined. Read article

HIS Radeon x850 XT & XT PE VIVO AGP

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/08/2005 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
A couple of weeks ago I received an email from HiS technology with the request if we would like to review their new AGP based Radeon x850 XT and x850 XT Platinum Edition. Both products tested today come with the very chilly IceQ II cooling package that means a large but very silent cooler. For the standard Radeon x850 XT model additional iTurbo overclocking software is included, which makes the product run as fast as a Platinum Edition within the click of a mouse button, a very cool feature. ATI Radeon X800 XL - 512 MB

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/04/2005 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Would you still be satisfied (in the high-end range) with 64 MB graphics card memory (framebuffer)? Nah I didn't think so. So with that in mind we just received the Radeon x800 XL 512 MB from ATI as manufactured by Sapphire. We'll be focusing this article on where we can actually see the difference, and that's purely for the enthusiast gamers right now. 1600x1200 with features enabled like six levels of antialiasing and 16 levels of anisotropic filtering as that's where you'll notice the difference with such an excessive amount of memory on that graphics' card of yours. In the end you need to decide whether or not it's worth to invest in such a large framebuffer in this point of time. And invest is the proper word here as the 512 MB products will cost you a lot of money. But hey .. we show you the facts 'mam. And a fact is, the more memory on card the higher detail and resolution you can engage. Read article

HiS Radeon x800 XL - x850 XT - x850 XT PE

Right then, the products today are top of the crop, best of the rest. Two products extremely close to each other in the high-end range. But to make the article a little bit more tasty I decided to include the results of the recently tested Radeon x800 XL from HiS in here also. in this article we'll focus primarily on the Radeon x850 XT and XT PE though. NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TC 64MB

Today my friends we are going to take a quick peek at NVIDIA's latest low-entry (budget) card the GeForce 6200 TC. It's been a while since NVIDIA introduced the standard 6200 series. So why release this new TC versions then ? Simply, to control costs as the standard 6200 simply was too expensive for a low budget product. Read article

HiS Radeon x800 XL IceQ II Turbo

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/22/2005 06:59 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
The product that we are testing today is the Radeon x800 XL from HiS. The Radeon x800 XL is ATI's new high-end product yet within that segment on the lower and thus more affordable section. A product developed under codename R430 and built on the smaller 0.11 micron fabrication process. With no less than sixteen pixel pipelines and six vertex engines this is in fact a product that can compete with these fast 'green ones' in the form of GeForce 6800 Standard and thanks to current Catalyst drivers even GT. Ever since Christmas 2004 when the AGP version of the GeForce 6600GT became available these little puppies where flying over the counter. They are hot, and they are selling. And they should as the GeForce 6600 GT offers really nice performance with a feature set that is completely up-to-date for a price that everyone is willing to spend, if you are a gamer that is.
