Intel Core i9 9900K processor review 4

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 10/19/2018 02:00 PM [ 314 comment(s) ]

In this review we take the new flagship mainstream processor for a test-drive, meet the premium Coffee Lake-S eight-core processor that has been discussed so abundantly lately. This little beast has eight cores, sixteen threads and gets turbo bins that reach 5.0 GHz. Pair it with a nice Z390 motherboard and you will be looking at mighty fine performance and a downright excellent gaming processor.

Intel Core i7 9700K processor review 4

It is time to review that secondary Coffee Lake-S refresh release. In this review we put some blisters on the Core i7 9700K. This is the higher end mainstream processor. With eight cores it is aimed at the Z390 chipset based platform. But is it an interesting enough proc with just 8 threads, as this dawg does have hyper-threading?

Intel's Coffee Lake-S refresh for the second half of 2018 invokes three processors. Two eight-core ones, and a six-core version. In this review, we test out the Core i5 9600K. This is the new mainstream processor that you can seat into your Z390 or Z370 (update your bios first please) chipset based motherboard. If you want to build a gaming rig, this processor is your best value bet in the new 9000 series.

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 review 5

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/03/2018 10:39 AM [ 29 comment(s) ]

It is time to have a look at the non-X model Ryzen 7 2700. This eight-core processor is 30 bucks cheaper compared to the 2700X model. The essence, heck even the hardware is the same, however, the 2700 is clocked substantially lower and the X models are better binned and has better default clock frequencies. If you are willing to tweak a bit yourself, you can save cash and retrieve the very same performance. The Ryzen 7 2700 has eight-cores and sixteen threads priced pretty at just 299 USD.

AMD Ryzen 5 2600 review 5

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/01/2018 01:58 PM [ 30 comment(s) ]

It is time to have a look at the non-X model Ryzen 5 2600. The 'regular' six-core proc is a few tenners cheaper compared to the 2600X model, but really, it's the same stuff. It's just that the X is better binned and has better default clock frequencies. However, if you are willing to tweak a bit yourself, you can save them few tenners and retrieve the very same performance. The Ryzen 5 2600 has six-cores and twelve threads and is ready 'n waiting for you at a pretty spectacular value price. A perfect piece of silicon for proper threading and gaming? Well, let's find out!

Intel released a new six-core processor the Core i5 8600 (non-K model) through our benchmark paces. This proc is again a six-core processor that you will need to seat on a Z370, H370 or B360 chipset based motherboard. While it isn't fitted with hyper-threading, it might, however, be one sweet gaming processor with its low 65W TDP, a 3.1 GHz base-clock and an all-core turbo of 4.1 GHz.

We'll check out the more mainstream six-core proc from Intel as we put the Core i5 8600K through our benchmark paces. This $257 USD proc is again a six-core processor that you will need to seat on a Z370 chipset based motherboard. While it isn't fitted enabled with hyper-threading, it might, however, be one sweet gaming processor with its all-core turbo to 4.1 GHz and again it being tweakable to 5.0 GHz on all six cores.
