Every now and then a manufacturer manages to surprise us with something really good. And here we are, meet the new M10P from Plextor. This round it does not have a Phison PS5018-E18 controller, and as it turns out, that brings in tremendously good results closing in on 7 GB/sec.

Today, we are checking the G.Skill TridentZ Royal Elite 3600 MHz CL14. This is another addition to the TridentZ family. Previously (at the end of 2018), we’ve reviewed the Royal 3200 MHz 2 x 8 GB edition, then after almost two years -> Royal 4000 CL17 4 x 8 GB version. The Royal Elite has been introduced in mid-April this year, and the CL14 variants at the beginning of June.

Galax HOF OC Lab Water Cooling 4400 MHz CL19 review

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 07/12/2021 11:22 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]

Today, we are checking the Galax HOF OC Lab Water Cooling 4400 MHz CL19. It was instead some GPUs (or SSDs) that we got a chance to look at from this company. That's definitely the high-end of the RAM that you can see on the market. The 16 GB kit that we got is a limited edition (and our sample is the 2nd from 50 pieces) and consists of two 8 GB modules.

Powered by a Phison 5012-E12 controller and paired with 3D TLC NAND Silicon Power offers something rather attractive in relation to sheer NAND volume storage versus value. The XD80 from Silicon power series is not targeted at an enthusiast audience but rather is released as a mainstream high capacity NVMe SSD series with very decent performance.

Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 3600 MHz 32GB review 3

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 04/15/2021 01:06 PM [ 11 comment(s) ]

Today, we are checking the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 3600 MHz CL18 (pretty average latency figure) memory in a 32 GB set consisting of four 8 GB modules. This is not the first time we’re looking at the Corsair RAM. It was for example the Vengeance RGB Pro (4x8 GB 3200MHz) or Dominator Platinum (4x8 GB 3600 MHz CL16). Ok, but what’s different comparing the above-mentioned Vengeance RGB Pro series?

Samsung 980 1TB NVMe SSD review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/09/2021 05:00 PM [ 17 comment(s) ]

Samsung returns with a new M.2 NVMe SSD in their reputable 900 series product line, this, however, is a value proposition. We test the new Samsung SSD 980, which would be the non-PRO model. It is a product that sticks to PCIe Gen 3.0, but also Samsung stripped away the DRAM cache, now solely utilizing HMB (Host Memory Buffer).

Patriot Viper Steel RGB 3600 MHz (2x 16GB) review 5

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 02/05/2021 05:07 PM [ 7 comment(s) ]

Today, we are looking at Patriot Viper Steel RGB 3600 MHz CL20 (yes – 20!) memory in a 32 GB set consisting of two 16 GB modules. I can say that we’ve had our fair share of experience with Patriot RAM. We had an opportunity to test a similarly clocked kit (3600 MHz) from the Viper Steel series (so no RGB there), but the capacity was 2 x 32 GB back then, and the latencies were quite surprisingly better, at 18-22-22-42. Before that, we also reviewed one of the fastest 2 x 8 GB kits in the range, clocked at 4000 MHz with CL19 latency.

Silicon Power US70 PCIe 4.0 NVMe review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/02/2021 12:11 PM [ 13 comment(s) ]

We review the Silicon Power US70 1TB PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD. It among the best performing NVMe SSDs we have tested to date, rating at 5 GB/sec. Of course, it is an SSD you can seat into any PCIe 3.0 compatible PC, however, if you place it into a compatible Ryzen processors B550/X570 based PC, some magic happens as you are running 4000 to 5000 MB/s numbers and higher, thanks to the new PCIe 4.0 interface and a little TLC from Phison, well Toshiba strictly speaking.

TeamGroup CX2 1TB SATA3 SSD review 3

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 01/19/2021 03:23 PM [ 14 comment(s) ]

The current market trend is that M.2/NVMe drives are the preferred option because they usually offer better performance, with fewer cables needed. But there’s a place for SATA drives as well. They are still 4-5x faster than HDDs, which they will eventually replace in most PCs. Some of the other advantages include the lack of noise and lower power consumption (usually up to 2 Watts). TeamGroup CX2 is a range of SSDs that can be the first choice for installing an entry-level PC.
