MSI MAG B650M Mortar WIFI review 4

Meet the MSI B650M Mortar WIFI motherboard. It’s a mid-tier product (from a series we had a chance to check, for example, with Intel’s B660 chipset) with a mid-tier AM5 chipset. It’s a very similar motherboard to a B650 Carbon WIFI, which Hilbert checked recently. Mortar is in mATX format (not ATX like Carbon) and has not four, but two M.2 slots, which are not PCIe 5.0 compatible (whereas, in the Carbon, one of four had it).

Meet the ASRock X670E Steel Legend motherboard. It’s a mid-tier motherboard (from a series that we had a chance to check with Z690 or B550 chipset) but with a high-end AM5 chipset. The “E” in the X670E indicates that the board needs to have at least one PCI5.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot.

At roughly $325, MSI sells the Z690 EDGE WIFI. It has a ton of high-end features and supports DDR5 memory. Additionally, there is plenty of fast USB connections and the most high-end Realtek ALC4080 audio codec and integrated WiFi in all four of the M.2 slots. MSI's VRM design is also impressive.
