ECS GF8200A black edition mainboard review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/02/2008 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
The ECS GF8200A black edition mainboard is a 70 USD/EUR mainboard comes with Hybrid graphics, (integrated GeForce 8200), VGA output, HDMI output, HD audio integrated, Gigabit Ethernet, PCI-Express 2.0, Serial ATA (RAID 0,1,10) DDR2 memory up-to 1066 MHz and all that for a price hovering at roughly 70 bucks ! That's just electrifying. Say you want to build a HTPC capable of decoding 1080P Blu-Ray. Well, purchase this mainboard, slap some memory on it and get a budget processor. Because the integrated graphics core will handle the HDMI and even media VC-1/h.264 decoding for you (Blu-ray / HD-DVD). See this is just a very cheap alternative. Read article

EVGA nForce 750i SLI FTW For The Win review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 04/16/2008 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
eVGA decided to make a new cheaper mainboard opposed to 780/790, designed it l33t, sexy yet offer two or maybe three features less than these sub 300 USD counterparts. And they named their new baby the eVGA nForce 750 FTW. Where FTW literally means "For The Win". Now if you send a product with "FTW" in the actual name then as a company you need to have some pretty big balls, as any reviewer will see if that product lives up-to the reputation. You know what, you need balls as big as an NVIDIA colored bull. Read article

NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI review (eVGA)

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/17/2008 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
In this article we'll cover all that you need to know about the nForce 790i Ultra SLI. This is the mainboard that applies to you guys. We'll do the review in Guru style. Meaning the real hands-on experience combined with all data you like to learn, gamers style. Obviously we'll test and compare a little as well. But first let me show you the technical specifications of the NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI before we attack it with red peppers and drive it to the extreme. NVIDIA made sure that the nForce 790 series is one of the if not the best overclocking platform available. But you will pay top dollar for it, yet by overclocking you will gain that invested revenue back, that's a guarantee. Read article

NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI review - XFX

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/15/2007 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
The industry has been moving forward and we now see slow adoption of PCIe 2.0, new Intel Penryn (45nm) Core 2 processors are close to it's release and then of course the launch of NVIDIA's 3-way SLI last week which for 780i meant adoption of (3x) 16x PCIe slots. Time for the good old nForce68-i to get an upgrade to the all new nForce 780i. Read article

The Albatron nForce based 680i SLI even since it's release is an amazing mainboard series. It's simple .. if you want to overclock your PC, chances are large that you at the very least are opting a 680i mainboard with Core 2 Duo processor and some good memory. Read article

NVIDIA eVGA nFORCE 680i LT SLI

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/25/2007 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Let me put it simple .. The 68i SLI LT mainboard is a regular 680i SLI mainboard in all it's ways yet to cut costs there have been several functions stripped. For example .. you'll have to miss out on the 3rd "graphics" PCI-Express slot (the 8x one), you'll only have one GBit/s Ethernet connector, you lost the passively cooled SSP and MCP, it's now done with active fans, you loose LinkBoost and some tweaking options in the BIOS. Other stuff you'll miss are the black PCB, diagnostic LEDs, reset and power off/on micro switches in the mainboard PCB and some other small stuff. We'll explain ... click me ! Read article

eVGA nForce 680i SLI mainboard review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/03/2007 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
We started using this mainboard pretty much the minute we received it which was early November and ever since it has become the #1 mainboard for testing graphics cards. Intense stability, hefty tweaking features and massive performance. These are the three things I immediately think about when we talk about the 680i mainboards. Read article

NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI Intel preview

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/08/2006 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Reason enough for NVIDIA to release the nForce 500 series for Intel's processors (Core 2 Duo as well). Today we'll be taking a brief look at the reference NVIDIA NFORCE 590 SLI mainboard. It by all means is test done with a reference board that is not 100% finished and unfortunately we did not receive a final product from a board partner like ASUS. Nonetheless .. even with this very Beta reference mainboard I was shocked by the combination of Conroe and NFORCE 590 SLI for Intel, in very positive way I must add. Read article

Albatron K8SLI mainboard

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/16/2005 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Albatron decided toe ease the pain a little. They introduced a mainstream SLI mainboard based on the NFORCE 4 SLI chipset that is quite affordable and offers a more than enough of functionality versus excellent performance. Being an affordable mainboard costs can be cut a little. Next to that one of my personal wishes finally was introduced .. as stated you need to enable SLI mode on the mainboard if you are using two GeForce graphics card in a SLI setup, which normally can be done with that little SLI card that sits securely on your mainboard and needs to be be flipped around. Some manufacturers ditched that SLI card and allow that change from the BIOS or even automatically. Albatron is such a company, and this mainboard has a digital switch, you seriously don't have to do a thing. Lovin' it! Read article

NVIDIA nForce 4 SLI Intel Edition

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 04/27/2005 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
So it was 2004, November if I'm not mistaken, when a press-release came in. NVIDIA announced a cross license agreement with Intel that hold multiple products and more important for the future, product generations. Exciting news for sure, but I did not expect that NVIDIA would have something ready so darn quickly. Intel and more importantly Intel's processors are a huge chunk of the processor market, and NVIDIA can now have a small take of that. The first Pentium 4 chipset mainboard chipset that they've released is of course the product we'll take for a quick spin today. Read article

Intel 925XE Express Chipset

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/20/2004 09:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Today we are looking at Intel's D925XECV2 mainboard equipped with the seriously breathtaking yet unfortunately rather expensive 3.46GHz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition to try out for a couple of weeks. But let's focus on that mainboard versus chipset. Key primary feature you need to keep in mind is that this mainboard is capable of a lovely 1066 MHz system bus. Your average Pentium 4 mainboard these days run on the quad pumped 800 MHz front side bus, this one can handle a bit more (266 MHzx 4), yes 1066 MHz. Read article
