Review: Seasonic Prime Titanium 1600W TX-1600 ATX 3.0 PSU

PSU - Power Supply Units 109 Published by Krzysztof Hukalowicz 6

teaser

Today, we’re putting the new Seasonic Prime Titanium – a 1600W power supply on our test bench. It’s not the first ATX 3.0 compatible unit we looked at from that company because we checked the Vertex GX-1000 last year. We also had a chance to review the non-ATX 3.0 edition with 1300 W. The PSUs are not the only products from Seasonic (because we checked the chassis -> Q704 and Q503), but they’re the most important in the offer. TX-1600 has ATX 3.0 and PCIe Gen 5.0 compatibility.

Warning on Misleading 4TB 1080 Pro SSD Advertised with Unrealistic Speeds

Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 6

teaser
A product resembling Samsung's SSD design and named 1080 Pro claims to offer extraordinary performance with read and write speeds reaching up to 15.8 GB/s and 14.5 GB/s, respectively. Marketed at the price of approximately $43.68 USD, such specifications and costs suggest implausibility, given the technological capabilities of even the most advanced PCIe 5.0 drives, which do not approach these speeds. Quasarzone's testing reveals that the performance of the 1080 Pro is significantly inferior, at times even lower than that of a basic USB 2.0 flash drive. Analysis indicates that this SSD, advertised on platforms like AliExpress, falsely promises PCIe 4.0 compatibility and is likely a counterfeit designed to exploit the market presence of genuine Samsung products.

Netflix Reports 54% Profit Increase Following Account Sharing Ban

Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 32

teaser
In the first quarter of 2024, Netflix reported a 54% increase in profits, reaching $5.28 per share, which exceeded Wall Street expectations of $4.51 per share. This significant rise in profits was largely attributed to the acquisition of 9.3 million new subscribers worldwide, following the implementation of strict measures to curb account sharing. This growth brought the total subscriber count to 269 million, marking a 16% increase. Despite these gains, Netflix announced that starting in 2025, it will cease to disclose the total number of subscribers, a move that has not been well received by shareholders. The company stated that it will instead focus on user engagement and developing new subscription models to diversify revenue streams, suggesting a strategic shift from emphasizing subscriber growth.

AI Technology to Propel Global PC Market Growth in 2024

Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 11

teaser
The global PC market, according to Counterpoint Research, witnessed a 3% year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2024. This growth follows eight consecutive quarters of decline, attributed to a slowdown in demand and adjustments in inventory levels. The growth in Q1 2024 was from a relatively low base established in Q1 2023. It is anticipated that the PC market will maintain this upward trajectory throughout 2024, culminating in a 3% year-on-year growth by the end of the year. This forecasted growth is primarily driven by the emerging market for AI PCs, a recovery in shipments across various sectors, and a new cycle of device replacements. In Q1 2024, Lenovo's PC shipments increased by 8%, helping the company to restore its market share to 24%, up from 23% in Q1 2023. Competitors HP and Dell reported stable market shares of 21% and 16%, respectively, with expectations of growth driven by the North American market in subsequent quarters. Apple also reported a modest 2% growth, largely supported by its M3 base models.
