ATi
was demonstrating their latest product the Radeon VE. It's basically an OEM
videocard for system builders demanding good quality and a strong feature pack.
For an absolute low and competitive price you'll get a videocard with dual
display controlled by two ramdacs with memory and core running at I believe 187
MHz.
ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE: ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT), the world's largest supplier of
graphics, video and multimedia solutions, announced today that it is shipping
the RADEON™ VE desktop graphics board to the mainstream market with an ESP
(estimated street price) of just (US) $99.
The RADEON VE board integrates HydraVision™ technology, allowing for
multi-monitor support for increased productivity. Exclusively available with the
RADEON VE graphics board, HydraVision enables users to define up to nine
multi-monitor configurations, enabling work to be spread across the entire
workspace. The RADEON VE graphics board also features ATI's VIDEO IMMERSION™
technology for high-quality video and DVD playback.
"The RADEON VE desktop graphics board furthers ATI's commitment to leadership in
the retail computer space," said Deanna Perkins, Product Manager, Desktop
Marketing, ATI Technologies Inc. "With an estimated street price of just $99,
the RADEON VE delivers affordable, high-quality, industry-leading graphics
designed to meet all the varied requirements of today's mainstream consumer --
with no compromise."
What was very interesting to see was the powerful HydraVision software which
will allow you to (for example) assign a application to a key or macro and
switch swiftly and fast to that application on a preferred monitor. really cool
stuff. The VE has a srabdard VGA output and a DVI connector output as standard,
you'll get a DVI gender-changer towards VGA with the board to hook up two
monitors easily.
Let's do some pictures:

The last question to ATi was of course, what will your next consumer graphics
videocard be and what about it's specifications ? As I already assumed Nicole
could not get me any information regarding this product besides the fact that
it's called Radeon II and it'll go into mass production already at the end of
this summer. The Radeon II will definitely have improved HyperZ technology and
will be a competitive videocard against NVIDIA GeForce3. I for sure, can't wait on that release :)
