The CeBIT 2000 exhibit in Hannover
Tuesday, February 29, 2000 - Hilbert Hagedoorn

Once a year there is this huge IT exhibit in Germany. Almost every manufacturer, dealer or reseller has a booth on the CeBIT. So, reason enough to grab the good ol' digital camera and take a few snapshot off the hottest items eh ?

Before I start I need to tell you something about online-press being banned from the CeBIT. For some weird reason the CEBIT managers decided not to give away press-cards for online editors. Ridiculous, If we want entry we can buy it for 60 DM (~ $30-35 US). What was that about ?  Why is Online press not taken seriously compared to print-press ? Do I not work 7 days a week to keep this site up-to-date and filled with the latest information and updates ? I've heard some people shouting, aaah ... you earn some funds with your site, so stop being such an @$$ and pay up that money.

Okay, let me get something straight, the money is not the object here ! It's the press-card what it's all about. Without that card we cannot enter product-presentations and press-rooms thus we will not get all the information, and therefore cannot bring you the latest items on information technology. If I had gotten a press-card and still had to pay $35 you wouldn't hear me about this matter. So, I really hope that next year the 'online-press' ban will be removed because it's incredible unprofessional.

Right, this said, the CeBIT coverage will be mainly focused on new 3D technology, some MP3 items and diverse interesting hardware. Also, let me warn you, the upcoming pages are stuffed with pictures, so if you have a slow internet connection you might want to reconsider reading these pages.

* UPDATE - I just received word that it is now (days too late) possible to get press-cards. Duh !
