Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1402 12x/40x

The Prologue ...

Here's a new one, this is the first DVD drive this reviewer has ever owned!
Basically, I have wanted one for a while now just to keep up with the time.  Basically I was more interested in the most bang for the buck drive when purchasing this DVD-ROM.  To be honest, I don't watch many movies but when I do I want them to be high quality, and since DVD's are becoming more and more popular, I figured what the hey I'll get one.  I searched the web for a few hours looking at the different brands, prices, and speeds of the drives.  Didn't know they could get so expensive though.

I found one for a little less than 300$.  That was way out of my price range, no matter how fast it was.  I noticed that a lot of the 12x drives where around 100$ and where manufactured by some respectable companies such as: Sony, Toshiba, and Pioneer etc.  So now I just looked at the system specs and they were almost identical with each other.  So I looked for the cheapest most reliable internet superstore which had free shipping.  I found a place that had free shipping, but only carried the Toshiba.  So I ended up buying the Toshiba 12x DVD-ROM 40x CD-ROM drive which we will review in this article
