NVIDIA GeForce3 Titanium 500

GeForce3 Titanium 500 - Now this will be the new 'woohaa' product, it's also the product we will test in this feature. This is the what we can 'name' a GeForce3 Ultra. Equipped with a Ti500 240 MHz GPU and armed with 64MB 2x250 (500 MHz DDR) memory this will be the new pride and joy from NVIDIA. The Ti500 will compute at 960 billion operations per second (BOPS) It's 1.5x the GeForce 3 performance at the suggested retail price of $349

In perspective let us take a look at the the prices, these should be the final retail prices:

  • GeForce3 Ti 500 - $349
  • GeForce3 Ti 200 - $199 !!
  • GeForce2 Ti - $149

The new cards featuring the GeForce3 Ti 500, 200 and GeForce2 Ti will be available as early as Mid October 2001. In addition, PC OEMs will ship with the new GPUs in the next 45 days.

In this feature we will test a GeForce3 Titanium 500, it's a reference model that we received from NVIDIA. First we will explain a tidbit on the new features that the GeForce3 line-up has and then of course we will benchmark and compare this videocard towards other  videocards like Kyro-II, GeForce2 MX, GEForce2 Ultra and the 6 months old GeForce3. We'll also overclock this videocard to see how far it can actually go but first let's take a look at the tech specs:
