Thermalright SK6 vs. CPUfx CORE
|
The
Bundles and Mounting:
The
package comes with the heatsink , and 4 mounting clips , you only need to use 2
but there is 2 different size clips incase you have a bigger or smaller fan. It
then comes with the 2 different style thermal pads, luckily neither comes
attached already. Then it comes with the standard mounting bracket, nothing
special about that, just a slot for a flathead screwdriver to assist putting it
on and off. For putting the fan on, this is a completely new design and a very
good one, you take one of the clips that is the right size and put the 2 loops
at the bottom in the holes on the heatsink and put the 2 angles at the top into
the fan holes, hold it down and repeat on the other side. This is much better
than the screwing on and it makes switching fans immensely easier. A
disadvantage to this is I tried to attach a fan grill it absolutely would not go
on with one, so you can’t use fan grills with their fan mounting system. Though
not a huge drawback it still makes a difference.

If
you look closely on the bottom you will see 4 small holes which are there to
help you align the heatsink with the processor core, not all SK6’s have these
holes for assisting you, but it is just another thing Thermalright took into
consideration when making a top of the line heatsink. Also in the picture is the
evil pink thermal pad. This will be replaced with the Artic Silver2 in the
testing.
