The integrated Yamaha PCI video card

In these days of 3D violence PowerColor must have thought that a simple soundchip wouldn't be sufficient for todays gamer. Therefor they have choosen the Yamaha YMF-724 which uses Sensaura 3D technology to achieve 3D-positional audio capability. Now to be honest, i had never heard of it before and its most certainly not as good supported as A3D and SB-Live. However is does accelerate Directsound 3D pretty well.

The sound is pretty good. And no, it cannot by far compete with a High Quality soundcard like SoundBlaster live, but its good enough for the average gamer. Good full sound and clear bass.

The Yamaha YMF-724 makes use of Sensaura technology. This can be seen as the same positional sound that A3D uses. However not many games support it. I tested it with several games and the only full Sensaura support i have seen came from PowerSlide.

Downs, the volume slider makes some cracking noises while sliding, and i miss advanced buttons for settings like Bass and Treble. Perhaps in future driver releases this will be solved. However its not a biggie.

I had a very hard time to find updated drivers for the Yamaha, however i stumbled into their public ftp server which has the latest drivers online.
