The PlexWriter

The PlexWriter 8/4/32A comes with a CD that has the drivers plus some excellent CD burning software. Everything you need to create your own CD is included. Software wise, you get PlextorManager 2000. This program puts you in control, allowing you to control every aspect of your drive's performance and create audio CDs like a pro. In addition to PlextorManger 2000 you can order CD Res-Q. This simplifies disaster recovery operations by allowing you to record an image of your hard drive directly to CD. In the event of a catastrophic failure, boot directly from your Res-Q CD and restore an entire system in one fast, painless step. CD Res-Q is sold separately.

Once the CD Writer and software was installed it was time to burn some CDs. Using my standard test CD which contains 641 Megs of data, I pop it into my CD ROM and put a Google Gear CD-R into the PlexWriter. I only have 4x CD's right now so that is what I used for the test. The full 641 Meg CD took just 19 minutes to test and burn. I have since burned over a dozen CDs with this drive and have yet to make a coaster. This is one fast, reliable burner.

Plextor's reliability is proven by an impressive history of quality products, and dependable service. If you're in the market for a CD Writer, the PlexWriter 8/4/32A should be on your list of drives to check out. While it's a little slower than the top of the line drives out now, it is still a fast burner and since it is not the newest technology anymore, with the 16/10/32 and other similar speed drives coming out, you can pick the PlexWriter 8/4/32A up pretty cheap.
