Introduction:Home networking is the new word on the streets. From LAN party animals to the professional user, everyone either already seems to have a home network or they are planning to set one up. Great, now it’s time to choose what kit suits your needs. The options range from the good ol’ NIC solutions to wireless hubs, and of course, USB networks.

For the professional user, who relies heavily on laptops to get most of their work done, NIC is not quite ideal due to their higher cost. The next possible solution would be a USB network.

All though quite easy to setup and relatively lower cost, USB networks have not been the perfect SOHO solution, due to their limited functionality and slower transfer speed. While the current USB networks out there do a good job of connecting two computers directly, they are no use to the professional user who needs to connect his laptop to an entire network.

That’s where the MTe-LAN differs from the rest of the USB networks. What we have here is a much more complete and flexible network kit. While it is basically able to connect two computers through a simple USB to USB connection, it is also able to connect a computer already existing LANs for sharing of network and Internet resources. Mushroom Technology likes to call this virtual Ethernet environment GeneLink LAN.
