The Technology
While 'slicing' down the GPU NVIDIA has fabricated a chip that has only
2 rendering pipelines (GF2 has 4), furthermore the 'core' frequency of
the videocard is clocked at 175 MHz compared to the 200 MHz of the GF2
GTS. Another huge difference compared towards the GF2 GTS is the usage
of plain 'old' and normal SDRAM (resulting in memory bandwidth
limitations). The GF2 GTS uses the fast DDR(Double Data Rate) memory.
Als these factors combined slice down the performance of the Geforce2.

So, the MX is slower than the GeForce2,
but does that mean that it is slow ? On the contrary dear Watson ! It's
a very speedy videocard. It might be slower than a GeForce2 GTS, but it
is faster than a SDRAM based GeForce 256 and is even a tidbit faster
than a DDR Memory equipped GeForce 256. Watch the diagram below to see
major technical differences between the chipsets.
