So, it all comes to this. Everyone wants to see if
this will perform miracles. Well, let us have a look! I used Counter-strike, with
POD-BOT to test.
Basically, I created a game of 4 opposing
Counter-Terrorists on the PROFESSIONAL difficulty. The map ? de_dust. I was a lone Terrorist, bought an AWP
(Counter-strike Railgun), and camped the bridge on the
map. ;) This is not how I really play!
In my opinion, this is a pretty good test of
skill/mouse pad. The professional skill level
basically means that the bots can hit you in the left nut
at 200 feet with a pistol :-) (Thank you,
Tom Clancy / Ding Chavez). They hit in the head,
and rarely miss. It's critical that you are able to
zero in on the bot before he gets you.
Why didn't I play against a human opponent? Variable
skill. I could play with both pads against untrained
monkeys and win either way.
So, how did I do the benchmarks? I played the game 5
times with each pad, and I took the average
kills/deaths ratio.
The Results
Standard Pad: 2.1 TO 1
Everglide Giganta: 4.2 TO 1
NOTE: These scores are really just a way to guesstimate how much the
mouse pad improved my aiming. This is in no way a scientific benchmark.
Oh .. btw, you can tell that I stink,
hehehe.
Quake 3 - Well, I fired up the Quake 3 Demo for some Longest-Yard action. I won't
give you benchmarks: Just some observations. Everyone looks in awe at those people that can fly in the air, and rail
someone across the map, also in the air. Now, with my old pad, these
shots were next to impossible. I just couldn't make the mouse track
the people! With the Everglide, I found I was making more of these shots. I was
quite impressed with myself and of course the mouse pad.
The one low of the EverGlide Giganta ? It's 20 dollars. But then, for the serious gamer, 20
dollars should be worth it to get better skills. Heck, all people
should get it! It just makes Windows so easy to navigate!
So, the Final Descision? Get this mouse pad! It's a joy to work/play with.
