ELSA Gladiac 920
64MB DDR GeForce3
What product is available for the ultimate
gaming freak ? What is the fastest consumer videocard to date for people who
don't have to watch their wallets ? What product can deliver unprecedented image
quality, Indeed, the GeForce3 and we got our grubby little paws on the second
GeForce3 that we have tested here in the reseach cave. Today we will take a look at the new GeForce3
from ELSA, the Gladiac 920.

I must admit that I was very skeptical about
the GeForce3 when I first read the specifications, until the previous 3D Prophet III
review I've been very quiet surrounding this topic since I did not want to
engage a discussion based upon specs and specifications. I've been following and
watching GeForce3 reviews & discussions for a while and somehow I was surprised
to see many many people complain about the poor frame rate improvement compared
to the GeForce2 Ultra. Is this all that count's for the majority of consumers ?
What about new features and image quality ? Why does one need to invest 300-400 USD in a videocard that is slightly faster then a GeForce2 Ultra or Pro, Why buy
a card that has all these new features that not one game that actually supports
it. The answer to these questions actually can be found in a few lines back
.. to invest and replace. It is somewhat harsh for those of you who bough
a GeForce2 Ultra, but since it's in the same price range the Ultra has become
obsolete and the production of the Ultra videocards already have halted. We have
to follow the pace that the industry has set and you have to face the fact that
once you buy technology it'll be outdated in only months time.

The Gladiac 920 looks a lot like the GeForce2 Ultra doesn't
she ?
This product is ready for the future, but is it
wise to buy one now ? Should you buy a card with nifty news features that are
hardly supported ? Is this product worth that kind of money ? Again, these
questions are the thesis for my skepticism. The funny thing however is, when I plugged the
first geForce3 videocard into the test system and ran my first tests I was able
to conclude only one thing, "Oh yeah .. this is what we've been waiting for".
We had some more fun with the Gladiac 920 then we did with the Hercules 3D
Prophet III. That one was based upon stepping A3 of the Graphics processing unit
and did not allow any kind of overclocking. The Gladiac 920 however had the new
revision GPU planted on it. We loved it ..
