Creative Labs
3D Blaster GeForce2 MX 32MB DDR

Well, I hear you say 'Finally!' I know I know, I wanted to review this puppy way back in December 2000. But Hey, we where a bit busy. None the less, let's start our review on Creative Lab's 3D Blaster GeForce2 MX, called Annihilator 2 MX outside Europe. I asked the PR staff from Creative why there are two names for this product on this globe. Well, it seems that the European section always have been calling their products the name of the chipset. Besides that the European department did not think that 'Annihilator' could be easily spoken by us 'non-English-speaking Europeans'.

Short reaction here - What!?

This much spoken of videocard comes with 32MB DDR memory (there's a catch which we'll discuss in a minute!) a huge freaking manual, driver CD and a free copy of rage Rally and Midnight GT: Primary Racer. As this product is targeted at the gaming community we will not find a TV-Out and DVD playback software.

It is really stunning to see how NVIDIA is saturating the market at present with a videocard for basically any budget. When we go to the stores we can find the cheap TNT videocard, the faster TNT2, budget gamers go for a GeForce256 or GeForce 256 with DDR memory. Other people go with GeForce2 GTS/PRO, the 'I want it all' buyers go for an Ultra based card and the real gamers on a budget of course choose the terrific GeForce2 MX.
