Desktop Network Switch DS-1216
Manufacturer: Compex

Today we will be looking at a product from a rather new for me company. The company is called Compex and they specialize in Network products. The first product that we will review is the Compex DS-1216 Desktop Switch. It is a fast Ethernet with 16 port RJ-45 10/100Mbps full duplex auto-negotiating switch. Ideal at home when you have a lot of PC's, bigger LAN parties, in general for a power home LAN user and of course for small office network solutions.

So why would one need a Switch over a HUB, and what is the difference ? To understand this process I will try to explain some basics of networking. But first let's take a look at the specifications.
