Today we will be looking at a GeForce4 Ti 4200 based product from .. AOpen. They are new in our list of manufacturer products that we review and boy, do they deliver nice products. This videocard series has been named Aeolus. Yes, you now reacted the same way as I did once I saw that nice Blue/blackish box. Thank God for dictionaries: Main Entry:
Ae.o.lus Oh goody, the series has been named after the Greek God of winds. A thousand dirty jokes now pop into my mind but ehm, let's keep this review professional if you don't mind ;) When we open up the box we immediately notice that AOpen handles their graphics cards with the same deal of respect as they do with their mainboards. The card looks awesome, and in the name of honesty, this card seems to have what it takes to be a winner just by looking at it. The design is a NVIDIA reference based layout on a black PCB with 128 MB Samsung 4ns DDR memory. The card has CRT output and DVI output but also S-Video in- and outputs and Composite in- and outputs through the S-Video connector and supplied cable. Furthermore in the box you'll notice of course one driver CD-ROM, Intervideo WinProducer software and a full version of WinDVD. All in all a very nice package for a rather low-cost graphics card.
When we look at the Graphics processing unit we'll notice integrated Dual RamDAC's, that means excellent multiple display options, greatly improved DVD movie playback and gaming wise a product that is fully DirectX8.1 compatible with a performance that is simply jawbreaking for not too much money.
The images above show the GeForce4 Ti 4200. First of all, no ramsinks on the card, it's weird .. not a lot of manufacturers use them anymore nowadays while they where so popular in previous generation videocards. The card is equipped with VGA, SVideo in/out and DVI connector.
