Voodoo3 - 3000 An Overview |
Before we'll start
benchmarking and testing the Voodoo 3 you probably want to know whats inside the package
right ?
Well, 3dfx surely has done a good job this
time. The package includes:
- one Voodoo 3 3000 AGP card with TV-Out (you
probably figured that one out by yourself eh ?)
- Driver CD
- One very tiny manual
- S-VHS to composite connector cable
- Unreal full version
- Need for Speed III full version
- Descent 3 - Sol Ascent
Thats a very nice compilation. BTW - for
those who do not know. The Voodoo3 2000 does not have the game-pack and TV-out. Besides
this there are som e major differences between
V3-2000 and V3-3000.
The 2000s memory and core are both clocked at 143MHz, giving it a maximum fill rate
of 286 MegaTexels/sec, plus a maximum of 6 million triangles/sec.
The 3000, has its memory and core clocked at 166MHz, and therefore has a maximum
fill rate of 333 MegaTexels/sec, plus a maximum of 7 million triangles/sec. Both boards
come with 16MB of SDRAM.
When it comes to API support, both boards support Direct3D, OpenGL via its MiniGL driver
and Glide.

The Voodoo3 2000 and the 3000 feature 300MHz
and 350MHz RAMDACs respectively and a maximum resolution of 2046x1536 at 75Hz. That should
be enough for most users with large monitors. The boards have a maximum vertical
refresh rate of 240Hz, so if your monitor has refresh rates of at least up to 200Hz you
can really push your display to its limits.
