Plextor shows TLC-based SSD at CeBIT

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/08/2013 08:24 AM | 0 comment(s) ]

Plextor was showing a new prototype of an  TLC NAND flash memory based solid state disk. This SSD is expected to be launched in August. TLC flash memory is cheaper than the MLC NAND flash memory that is typically used for SSDs, but it has a lower longetivity. The new Plextor SSD uses 19nm TLC NAND from Toshiba in combination with a Marvell 88SS9189 controlller.

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/07/2013 08:42 AM | 0 comment(s) ]

There are two more products before we'll be closing the CeBIT news items. MSI next to the G series Z77 GD65 Gaming also had the G series Z77 G45 and G43 on display. These again are similar to the original concept aside from an added Killer E2200 low-latency network interface and that Creative Sound Blaster Cinema audio. Have a peek after the break.

Cooler Master Eisberg series caught on Camera

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/06/2013 10:17 AM | 1 comment(s) ]

We've been able to catch the Cooler Master Eisberg series on Camera. Initially is should have been launched, then got delayed and then delayed some more. Do not confuse these with the Seidon series liquid coolers (which we'll review soon btw). The Eisberg series is still in development and will be an all-in-on kit liquid cooler ... with options. For example you can change tubing, fill coolant, maybe change the radiator. See it's more of a customizable series. The water-blocks will be huge though.

Enermax ETS-T40 Pluto Edition

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/06/2013 10:05 AM | 0 comment(s) ]

You probably will recognize the coolers, but Enermax is releasing Enermax ETS-T40 Pluto Edition CPU coolers. Now the cool thing really are the looks as they receive either a white or black thermal optimized coating. With today's colors in PC chassis being in the trend colors black and white, this could be a hit. Try to imaging an all black of white heatpipe cooler and how that would look in your PC? The white edition will get a bright white Appolish LED fan, the black edition a blue AppolishLED fan.

The initial models will have a 120mm fan and radiator design with built on APS function so that you can select FAN RPM in three steps depending on your performance versus noise requirements. MSI N660Ti PE Gaming Edition

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/06/2013 08:42 AM | 4 comment(s) ]

MSI had a rather unusual card on display at CeBIT. The MSI N660Ti PE Gaming Edition is obviously an all beefed up GeForce GTX 660 Ti. Talking to MSI, they are not yet sure if the card will be released. They are checking with media and customers about this. If released the card will get that red striping to accompany the G series motherboards that we showed you earlier on. This MSI N660Ti PE Gaming Edition would be very similar to the HAWK series actually, with triple overvoltage options, an 8 phase power design and being the OC PE edition it would get a factory clock frequency of 1019 MHz n the baseclock core.

MSI G Series Z77-GD65 caught on camera

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/05/2013 06:43 PM | 2 comment(s) ]

I was at CeBIT in Germany today and did my usual booth tour. CeBIT this year is really bad BTW. Very few vendors, mostly meeting rooms with a lot of lacking companies. Gigabyte, ASUS they are all not present. None the less, MSI will soon launch their 'g; Gaming series motherboards. They start off with an Intel Z77 motherboard that will get the latest Killer E2200 chip to accelerate and prioritize their gaming traffic, Sound Blaster 7.1 Cinema audio solution, Military class III component selection and another trick or two. Have a peek after the break for some photo's.
