The digital download prices of Windows 8 already have been discussed, but Microsoft now also shared information about the prices of the physical retail SKUs. The Windows 8 Pro upgrade DVD is available for pre-order for $69.99 at select retailers, and the box will have five different designs. For comparison, upgrading only will cost you just $39.99, or even less if you have an eligible Windows 7 PC.
Microsoft - [When you receive your copy of the Windows 8 Pro upgrade, you’ll see that the packaging takes a fresh approach, in the reimagining of Windows. Your package will feature one of 5 vibrant illustrations. We moved to paper based materials (the exception of course being the upgrade DVD inside) which allowed us to make an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel consumption. And we’ve reduced the packaging weight by 41%].
The OEM (builder) packages of Windows 8 (standard), which includes a key and installation media is sold in 64-bit and 32-bit variants, each priced at $99.99. Lastly, there are similar 64-bit and 32-bit packages for Windows 8 Pro, each priced at $139.99. Newegg.com is accepting pre-orders.
Now also, Engadget observed that Newegg is showing the prices of four Windows 8 retail units; Windows 8 Professional Upgrade ($69), Windows 8 Pro Pack ($69, product key card only), Windows 8 OEM ($99) and Windows 8 Professional ($139), with the latter two being available in both 32- and 64-bit versions (for the same price). However, if you go to the product page you'll see that the original price for the upgrade and product key card only versions is $199, so the other prices may be either a launch offer, or subject to change.
No 18+ titles Adult Games on Windows 8’s Marketplace - 10/12/2012 06:12 AM
You won't be able to play 18+ titles Adult Games on Windows 8’s Marketplace. With an age rating in place I personally don't see why Microsoft keeps restricting stuff as age restrictions on the operating system's marketplace.
