ROCCAT Kave XTD 5.1 Digital out now

ROCCAT Studios today announces the availability of the Kave XTD 5.1 Digital gaming headset in Europe and North America. The true 5.1 gaming headset is the flagship version of the new Kave XTD series. The Kave XTD 5.1 Digital builds upon the foundations laid by the original Kave headset, rebuilding it from the ground up and adding impressive innovations of its own.
REAL 5.1 SURROUND SOUND
Nobody does it like ROCCAT. With two 40mm driver units and one 30mm vibration unit per ear cup, a fully immersive, genuine surround sound experience with pitch-perfect crisp and clear audio is ensured. The Kave XTD 5.1 Digital’s three high-end driver units are aligned precisely at a 12° angle, matching the natural form of your ear. This alignment provides a real – not virtual – 5.1 surround environment in which you can pinpoint enemy locations easily, giving you the edge over your opponents.
FULLY-EQUIPPED REMOTE
With an inbuilt multi-channel sound card, the Kave XTD 5.1 Digital remote gives you total control at your fingertips. It allows you to pair your smartphone to your headset via Bluetooth, so you can call your friends without leaving the action. Whether you’re playing a game or watching a flick, the game/movie mode toggle provides enhanced audio. Complete with 5.1 speaker ports, you can switch between speaker and headset outputs seamlessly. Complemented by mute and master volume controls, the LED illumination gives an overview of your sound levels.
ROCCAT™ SMART LINK®
You’re in-game and your phone starts ringing right at that crucial moment. You can’t pause an online game so you either stop playing or ignore the call, right? Wrong! The Kave XTD 5.1 Digital features Smart Link®, a ROCCAT™ innovation that lets you pair your smartphone to the remote so you can make and receive calls through the headset – without leaving the action. The Bluetooth-facilitated technology means you can keep on fragging and let the other person on the other end of the phone line know all about it.
INBUILT MULTI-CHANNEL SOUND CARD
Complete with a multi-channel sound card built in to the desktop remote, interference and distraction-free surround sound audio is delivered. The benefit of having the multi-channel sound card built in to the remote is that it avoids the problem common to setups with on-board audio, whereby signal noise or interference can be heard through the headset. With its feature-rich driver and premium inbuilt sound card, the Kave XTD 5.1 Digital ensures you hear only what you’re supposed to hear – your game sounds – so the pitter patter of footsteps you’re listening out for isn’t drowned out by untimely noise.
COMFORTABLE AND ROBUST DESIGN
Robust, ultra light, and with comfortable headband and ear cup padding, this is a headset that is built to last and suitable for hardcore gaming sessions. Weighing in at 335g, the Kave XTD 5.1 Digital is extremely low in weight. This, coupled with a soft, ergonomic headband cushion and high-comfort leatherette ear cushions, provides a headset that can be worn for extended periods without causing discomfort. In spite of its low weight, the Kave XTD 5.1 Digital is also remarkably robust and durable, meaning its battle-proof design is ideal for hardcore gamers.

"This alignment provides a real – not virtual – 5.1 surround environment"
A REAL 5.1 surround environment requires 6 REAL sound sources. This headset has 3 speakers. It provides VIRTUAL 5.1. They are setting themselves up for a lawsuit if they are advertising it like that.

You don't need that many speakers for surround. You have 2 ears, 2 large speakers will always be enough. My view on these headsets is well known. The original Kaves were terrible and by far the most uncomfortable out of all the headphones I've tried. They have a lot of improving to do. We'll see.

Try reading it properly - its 3 speakers per ear i.e 6 speakers.
i know because i've had tritton AX Pros for 2 years which do the same thing.
yes its not as good as an actual 5.1 system but its good for those without the space for a full speaker setup.

I must was looking at another headphone then because i thought it said two driver's Neverless you be much better off getting a cheap sound card like a Xonar DG/DGX or U3 and config the sound card or U3 for 5.1 in it panel and windows and then config Dolby headphone to mode 1 for Ref or the other 2 mods, and then getting a pair of superlux headphones.
Because really there only so much things they can do when they make 5.1 headphones with 3 drivers on each cup because of the size of the drivers they use, I know they do this to simulate a 5.1 speaker setup but its not perfect. At their price point you can do much better for your money, Superlux headphones are a good start like their HD660,HD661,HD668 as well their HME660 which has a mic if it needed. As any headphone can be used for gaming, it doesn't has to mention it or say it in it name.
I had my fair share of 5.1 headset's that I have owned in the past, there really isn't so much more they can do for the price you paying for them.

I never understood headphones with many speakers. Since stereo headphones will give you surround as long as it is supported in games/movies whatevs.

I really liked the original kaves, for gaming they are great, too bad with time something broke and sounded horrible during bass heavy moments.

Hopefully it will be more comfortable than the old Kave model.
