OCZ Z-Drive PCI-E SSD Being Redesigned

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 09/04/2009 10:20 AM | 0 comment(s) ]

A while ago you guys leanred about the OCZ Z drive. Shortly after release it was pulled from the market for likely due to technical issues.

OCZ went back to the drawing board and is now preparing a revised OCZ Z-Drive PCI-Express solid state drive (SSD). The Z-Drive connects to the system using a PCI-Express x4 interface, and operates on SSD MLC NAND flash. It comes in capacities of 250 GB, 500 GB, and 1 TB, with a 256 MB buffer, and offers read/write speeds of up to 878 MB/s (read) 781 MB/s (write).

A 4-pin Molex connector is needed to power the drive. The device is rated MTBF of 900,000 hours and comes with 2 year warranty.
