Nvidia Outs Call of Duty: Ghosts System Specs and they are HEAVY

Now this is interesting, Nvidia announced the pending Call of Duty: Ghosts System Specs requirements. And they are stringent alright. Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released November 5th and will run on 64-bit only with Windows 7 or 8. The PC version of the shooter will require at least a Core 2 Duo E8200 at 2,66 GHz or a Phenom X3 8750 at 2,4 GHz. Minimum VGA requirements are a GeForce GTX 550 Ti or ATI Radeon HD 5870. Also this one, 6 GB system memory ? Oh and hey, the game needs 50GB of install size! We smell Ultra High Definition texture packs here folks - Woohoo !

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the tenth release in the series by infinity Ward.

Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
  • RAM: 6 GB RAM
  • HDD: 50 GB HD space
  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better
  • Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card
  • DirectX: 11
  • Internet: Broadband connection and service required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet connection required for activation.

Recommended System Requirements

  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780

This time around GeForce GTX-powered PCs receive the definitive Call of Duty: Ghosts experience thanks to NVIDIA-exclusive technologies and features, such as TXAA Anti-Aliasing, 3D Vision, SLI and PhysX, which adds incredible effects to Activision's next-gen first-person shooter.

I think what he meant to say is only 5 CoD fans would find the game requirements to too much of a turnoff to get the game.

thank you......you are smart you like good things :)

there's allot of steam users but nothing about cod i see a top 10 player count but nothing about cod? so is there a comparison to cod for pc player count vs console? that would be more on the subject. you got a list for how many origin users there are too?

Click to extend and view the top 100. There's over 40,000 people currently playing various releases of it as of my posting this according to Steam. Not sure if there's anything like that for Origin.

As I know more than 5 people who play CoD (on PC no less)...those same people would ditch PC in a second for console simply to avoid upgrades.

Holy...50GB!? That must be a first in gaming history!

i believe it was the first star wars force unleashed that took 50gb, i could be wrong

On that note, for PC games that required a disc to run, I never understood why they weren't used to load (live) some in-game content, such as music or cutscenes. Both of those take up a considerable amount of disk space but can easily be loaded from an optical disc without slowing down the game. If anything, doing this would improve load speeds, since it's 1 less thing for the HDD to be working on.

No, No, NO!, i do NOT WANT to have to keep track of the stupid discs because someone felt it was better to keep data on the disc, absolutely NOT.

Also, you have very little storage for this day in age....low end laptops can have more then yours easily, stock, and even those that don't...come quite close...there's no reason for such a low amount of storage, especially since the price for them is ridiculously high comparatively (per gb)

No COD is using a heavily optimized graphics engine in this round. This should be really good. Just have a peek at some of the screenshots in the news item.

If you ask me it still looks similar and the game play looks eerily very similar despite all this tripe about the engine. Probably just a marketing ploy

I hope the hit detection has been improved also is this a new engine or is it still loosely based on q3 engine.

So they're implying that a GTX 550 Ti is on par with an HD 5870? Riiiiight...

I've owned an HD 5870 and it was a beast at the time...as for the 550 Ti?...it was trash.

GTX 550 Ti OC is slower than an HD 5770, hah!
http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/geforce-gtx-550-ti-review-msi-cyclone-ii-oc,10.html

Visually this doesn't look much better than MW2...I'd say BFBC2 looks better than this so there is no way a 5870 would be considered minimum spec.

If anything a 5870 should run this game maxed out at 1080p with high frame rates...unless they purposely made it run worse on ATi/AMD cards :puke2:

As we move forwards with PC games, makers are starting to heavily focus on image quality which leads to overall a larger game size.

I've kept all my games on a 320GB HDD which I recently had to upgrade to a 1TB just because of games like COD where the graphics look nice and you get 8 hours of game play. Length of game play aside and the game play is good.

It's 28,9 GB. Videos are by far the largest chunk in that: 7,89 GB.
