Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/11/2013 10:03 AM | Source | 46 comment(s) ]

NVIDIA is going to offer a new bundle with Free-to-play games. Everyone who purchases a GeForce GTX card (GTX 650 or above), will receive up to  110 EUR of in-game value to use with three game titles. Due to the explosion of free-to-play gaming on the PC, bringing you next generation graphics in some of today’s biggest titles, we are starting to see more and more blockbuster games moving across to the free-to-play business model.

According to a Steam Hardware Survey, over 36 million gamers don’t meet the recommended specs, meaning they’re missing out on the very best experience in their favourite games.

So, NVIDIA’s new bundle offer is all about Free-to-play. Everyone who purchases a GeForce GTX card (GTX 650 or above), will receive up to 110 EUR of in-game value to use in thee following three titles:

  • Planetside 2  One of the highest scoring game on Metacritic in 20112. The game is demanding, and requires a high end graphics cards (similar to what you would need to play the likes of Crysis 3 or Far Cry 3).
  • World of Tanks  one of the biggest games out there and a big cuultural phenomenon, requiring a mid-range GPU to run the game at 1080p.
  • Hawken  powerred by PhysX, this title also requires high end graphics hardware for 1080p play, in order to receive stunning visuals and ground-breaking gameplay.

Gamers will be able to pick up a GeForce GTX graphics card and take advantage of the offer starting this Monday.

The way it works is that you will receive a coupon in the box which you can then redeem at NVIDIA's website. You will then get a specific code generated to use for each of the games.

The poor man's battlefield? Meh! They should've added Dota2, lol and Tf2 instead of PL2 items. Dunno about Hawken.

Pretty smart to offer f2p items, tbh. The other core games can be had very cheap but f2p items have their own economy.

Rather terrible response. Planetside 2 is still half broken, Hawken is rather boring till they add more maps and don't get me started on World of tanks.

I have to agree, I find this bundle rather disappointing. In fact, if I were in the market for a new GPU, this deal wouldn't interest me in the slightest.

I dunno, if they were really that desperate, which according to sales figures they aren't, You'd think they would knock 50 bucks off the 680's, then release their latest TWIMTBP with the cards for free.

I think this is just to sell low-mid range series cards.
