MSI and Killer make a deal for new motherboards

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/19/2013 09:02 AM | 7 comment(s) ]

MSI announced a deal to implement Qualcomm Atheros' Killer Networking Technology in future gaming laptops as well as gaming motherboards. MSI, the world-leading manufacturer of graphics cards and motherboards, is happy to announce an extensive partnership with Qualcomm Atheros to implement Killer™ Networking technology in not only MSI’s gaming notebooks, but also a new lineup of MSI gaming motherboards.

With this implementation gamers and professionals alike can now utilize Killer™ technology to enhance their gaming and video streaming experience. By adding a healthy dose of intelligence to the networking part of MSI motherboards a lot of work is taken out of the hands of the users who can focus better at the task at hand, be it fragging competitors or professional network services.

A better gaming world
“We are truly excited to cooperate with Qualcomm Atheros on the implementation of their unique technology on our soon to be announced gaming motherboards.” Says Ted Hung, Vice President MSI motherboard department. “This puts MSI in the driver’s seat for gaming motherboards with a balanced lineup that hits all critical price-points for gamers.”

New Killer™ Networking technology
MSI's motherboards will be equiped with the latest Killer™ E2200 chip from Qualcomm Atheros. The latest revision of their Killer™ chip has many advantages for gamers over previous revisions found on other motherboards. Windows 8 compatibility and Linux supported drivers are essential and not found on the previous E2100 chip. A new and upgraded driver and user interface designed in cooperation between Qualcomm Atheros and MSI will deliver a great user experience, allowing gamers to take full control of their network traffic and it’s prioritization. With Killer networking, gamers can finally maximize the utilization of their gaming PC’s simply because they are no longer limited to only running one bandwidth critical application at a time.

MSI will showcase their upcoming gaming motherboards powered by Killer™ Networking technology along with an exiting new range of gaming products at CeBIT 2013 in Hal 15, Stand F15.

From experience I can tell you not to buy anything with a Killer NIC the support is awful. I have a pointless card here whose so called windows 8 drivers is just a rebadged win 7 driver that didn't work properly in the first place avoid the killer NIC at all costs!!

So, another software based crap NIC....passed off as more than it really is....with typical Atheros support.... Sounds like those that fall for this marketing gimmick are getting screwed over more than usual... I'll stick to my Intel and Broadcom NICs.....

They should rather integrate a sick ass Intel server grade NIC. This killer nick is just crap. I only buy MSI cause that is the only ones I can get but they work wonders for me. enough features for my needs. don't judge MSI by 1 motherboard.

I agree we Daffy, I bought a Killer NIC years ago!! Worst product ever!! I remember trying very hard to get the thing working but to no prevail!! Support for the product was worse than Creative...with so many owners of the product screaming for help on the forums only to give up and abandon the product. Left a very bad taste in my mouth!! It was so bad I buried in the backyard hoping that it will never be unearthed ever again!!

What I hated most was the absolute lies that the company tried to hype up in order to sell the damn things...once bitten twice as shy...

and if they are going to be working with MSI motherboards well theres other mobo companies out there!!

Well, if one wants some networking improvements, just buy/install/configure cFosSpeed.
