According to a recent roadmap along with the introduction of some new Intel processors the overall prices might go down as well.  Intel will roll out Core i5-670/661/660/650 on January 3rd priced at $284, $196/$196 and $176 respectively.

Also on January 3rd Core i3-540 and 530 chips will be launched priced at $133 and $113. The site says Intel will also introduce a LGA-1156 Pentium G9650 on the 3rd priced at $87. On Jan 17th, Intel will then introduce a new Core 2 Quad Q9500 clocked at 2.83GHz with 6MB of L2 cache. On that same day Intel will also roll out the 3.06GHz Pentium E6600 at $84, while the E6500 will see its price reduced to $74.
