Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/30/2012 08:45 AM | 0 comment(s) ]

DigiTimes is sharing Intel's processor plans for the coming quarter. Several entry-level Ivy Bridge based processors will hit the market in Q1 2013, this includes the 22nm Pentium G2130, G2020 and G2020T and Celeron G1620, G1610 and G1610T processors. Older 32nm-based Pentium G870, G645 and G645T as well as Celeron G555, G550 and G550T chips will reach the end of their lifecycle by the end of 2012, and the Core i7-2700K, Core i5-3450, Core i5-2310, Core i3-2105 and Pentium G440 will also be phased out by the end of December.

Several new Ivy Bridge dual-core processors are on the way for laptops, the first quarter will see the launch of the Core i7-3687, Core i5-3437U, Celeron 1037U, 1007U, 1020M and 1000M, while Haswell-based laptop processors will follow in Q3 2013. The site also mentions that the 20nm MLC based SSD 530 series is slated for Q1 2013.

Intel's desktop processor business is currently still dominated by 32nm Sandy Bridge processors, which account for 60 percent of shipments, while 22nm Ivy Bridge CPUs account for 34 percent. Atom takes up another 4 percent and Sandy Bridge-E accounts for 2 percent. In the first half of 2013, Ivy Bridge's share is expected to rise to 75 to 78 percent, Sandy Bridge and Atom will have less than 20 percent and Haswell is anticipated to have 4 percent.

Ivy Bridge will remain the most shipped architecture throughout 2013, in the second half of 2013 Intel expects Haswell will account for 20 percent of shipments. Atom takes up another 4 percent and the Ivy Bridge-E, Sandy Bridge-E and regular Sandy Bridge processors will account for 4 percent, leaving about 72 percent of Ivy Bridge.
