Intel Core i7-3970X
A minor speedbump is expected in the Core i7 series. Intel's new flagship the Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition is already being sold in Singapore for S$1,425 (about US$1,167), including local taxes. This six-core chip will feature a 3.50GHz clockspeed, a 4GHz Turbo, and 15MB L3 cache. The six-core chip is based on the all too familiar 32 nm "Sandy Bridge-E" silicon, and built in the LGA2011 package. Its feature-set is consistent with that of the Core i7-3960X, with 15 MB shared L3 cache, HyperThreading, and unlocked base-clock multiplier.
The Core i7-3970X has HyperThreading support, 256KB L2 cache per core, 15MB shared L3 cache, and a quad-channel DDR3 memory controller with support for up to 128GB of memory.
