Intel Core i5 can do 3.6 GHz

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 04/23/2009 07:16 AM | 0 comment(s) ]

Some fun facts about the upcomign Core i5 processors: The Core i5 CPU (LGA 1156), codename Lynnfield, will become available in three versions at first. The frequencies are set to 2,660, 2,800 and 2,930 MHz. The TDP (Thermal Design Power) is supposed to reach 95 watt for the 45 nanometer products.

According to a report of hkpc Intel seems to have optimized the core and the Turbo Mode. Previous Core i7 models increase the multiplier by two steps at a TDP of 130 watt, while the new Core i5 reach five steps at 95 watt TDP (depending on the model to 3,200, 3,460 and 3,600 MHz).

Rumors of course.
