Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/14/2012 09:18 AM | 9 comment(s) ]

We review, test and benchmark the Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 motherboard. The all beefed up Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 is intended for Intel's 22nm Ivy Bridge processors on Socket LGA1155. It is the flagship product amongst Gigabyte's Z77 products LOADED with features and overclock potential. 32 power phases, 5 PCI-slots, 10 SATA ports, WIFI, Bluetooth 4.0, many USB 3.0 connectors, geeky buttons, LN2 switch, voltage monitoring, dual-BIOS solutions and of course absolutely gorgeous looks.

It looks like a great board and all,but really if not using more then two cards i dont see(even at -100c)much over the ud5h for less then half the cash.

Will do. However, I don't have time for a full before and after temps review. I'm going to lap the HS as well. May lap my H100 too. :D 800 to 3000 grit paper has already been ordered.

Agreed, I was always going for the UD5 (better looking board imo) but got the UP7 at near UD5 price.

The power phasing on this board apparently helps reduce CPU temps and as we know with Ivybridge that has to be a good thing!

Finally another true killer board from Gigabyte. Would be my board of choice if I were to build a new rig. But I don't see the need to replace my P67A-UD7 any time soon :)

Echo's my thoughts exactly, LesserHellspawn. Gigabyte is really making great products recently. My Z68 series have all been really fantastic. The build quality, rubber dust covers and stuff speak volumes about the company. If I was upgrading, I'd be getting the Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 though.

I really like unboxing Gigabyte products too. I think it's the smell.

Not sure about the smell but I'm soooo looking forward to getting this bad boy powered up! :nerd:

I so much agree here. Mainboard manufacturers just don't think in terms of an enthusiast that truly wants excellence on all fronts. This isn't helped by Intel, which has decided on-die graphics capabilities are more important than adding more PCI lanes, apparently. That's all good for those not interested in a separate graphics solution, but it's worthless to me.

Really, I want 3 fully functional PCIe 3 slots (x16 on all of them, loaded up) and a fourth for a RAID controller, that doesn't gimp my graphics solution, and a PCIe 1 slot for a sound card. I really don't think that's too much to ask for in today's computing enthusiast world.

Stop spending my money by adding a half-ass sound daughter card, and let me install the sound solution I want!

I've been thinking I'll replace my x58 rig with a Haswell one, but I haven't heard anything about PCI lanes - and where's Thunderbolt support? Thunderbolt could feasibly go a long way to help people like me, I think.
