It was already announced but EA send out word that thay are compensating the SimCity Launch Failure with a Free Game. Here are the details. EA is offering a free EA PC digital download game to anyone who purchases and authenticates SimCity by March 25, 2013 at 11:59pm PDT. During the rollout, individual users may find they get access to the free game portal slightly before or after others in their region. Everyone worldwide will have access no later than 5:00PM PDT on March 22 and will have until March 30 at 11:59PM PDT to redeem. Check out more info an the free games released after the break.

Our SimCity Mayors are incredibly important to the team at Maxis. We know we messed up and want to sincerely thank you for staying with us. The good news is we have solved all of the major issues and players are really enjoying the game. We’re getting great feedback from our fans and know that many of you are having fun and are exploring this whole new expression of SimCity.

As a small token of our appreciation, we are offering you a free EA PC game download on Origin*. Mayors who have authenticated their copy of SimCity on Origin by 25th March can select a free game through a redemption portal inside the Origin desktop client later this week. We’ll be opening up the redemption portal country-by-country so some of you may see it a little sooner than others. The portal will be live worldwide for everyone to select their game by 22nd March.

We don’t want any of you to miss out your free game, so please note that you must register your copy of SimCity before 26th March 2013 at 06:59am and you must claim your free game by 31st March 2013 at 7:59am. For more information including instructions on how to get your free game and a list of eligible games, please read our FAQ. We’ve included some of the hottest games in the EA portfolio, so pick one and add it to your Origin library on us!

Sincerely,
Maxis

• Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition) £9.99
• Bejeweled 3 £7.49
• Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition) £19.99
• Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition) £7.49
• MOHW (Standard Edition) £19.99
• NFS Most Wanted (Standard Edition) £19.99
• Plants vs. Zombies £3.49
• SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition £9.99

Though it may be ok to give us a game for there mistakes maybe they should have given with the games above free DLC, only valid choice for me is dead space 3 me thinks as i have read that MOHW is a load of sh**.

Downloaded NFSMW, played it for 5 minutes, and have just uninstalled it.

Thanks for the free game and free 5 minutes in a "free-roaming environment" that got pissed at me for driving headlong into traffic.

Everytime I crashed into a car, it would either magically teleport me to within striking distance of the car I was meant to be racing against, or I would get a black screen with a spinning icon which meant it was loading something, and then do the same. All the while it would flash on the screen "wrong way" in red.

FU for trying to tell me how to play the free game you gave me, and FU for creating a nagging wife of a game that won't let me do what I want in a free-roaming environment.

Oh, and having a red barrier that won't let me drive to other parts of the map unless I give you more money is pathetic.

Find the nearest window of the Ivory Tower, and jump out of it.

You can't be mad at EA for that, you picked the free game of choice.
