Corsair preps Dual-Channel Kits Core i5 Processors

Posted by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/14/2009 08:56 AM | 0 comment(s) ]

Intel's upcoming processor range will also make use of low-voltage DIMM memory, similar towards Core i7.

As such memory manufacturers are now creating specific SKUs to match the best DIMMs for Core i5. Corsair for example is working on specific DDR3 dual-channel memory to cater the new platform. Info on their XMS3 series memory leaked and as it seems they will release four DIMM kits in speeds of DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600

Interesting is that there also will be a kit utilizing 4GB of memory (2x 4GB and 2x 2GB.

  • CMX8GX3M4A1600C9 - 2x 4GB, DDR3-1600, 9-9-9-24
  • CMX8GX3M4A1333C9 - 2x 4GB, DDR3-1333, 9-9-9-24
  • CMX4GX3M2A1600C8 - 2x 2GB, DDR3-1600, 8-8-8-24
  • CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 - 2x 2GB, DDR3-1600, 9-9-9-24

Though 4 GB seems enough really, I expect that slowly we will now move onwards to 8GB in our systems, of course remember .. you need a 64-bit operating system to unleash and make available all 4 or 8 GB (!).
