ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II Pre-Release Sample Photos

On the ROG website ASUS is showing some photo's of the upcoming Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II. Though initially everybody planned 290X custom board in December, there seems to have been some kind of delay. As such you can expect the cards in the January timeframe during the CES 2014 timeframe.

The ASUS Radeon R9 290X comes with the latest revision of the DirectCU II the cooler and will get that kick-ass 2816 Stream processor based Hawaii chip with and 4 GB GDDR5 memory running along a 512-bit memory interface. The DirectCU II card will be equipped with a fully custom PCB design featuring the Digi+ VRM with Super Alloy Power technology and high quality C-Caps and MOSFETs.

The card will be powered through 8-Pin + 6-Pin power configuration and will obviously run at factory overclocked specifications.

Unleash the Beast......

If the R9-290X is properly cooled, it can beat the fastest nVidia graphics card the GTX780Ti @ a lower price point.

Custom cards usually start showing up around 3-4 month after their reference counterparts are out. So that Jan release sounds about right.

The 290's are AMD's top line. There are after market cards out for everything else they've released.
