It is sometimes amazing to hear things like these, not only is technology evolving at fast paces. Researchers have engineered a new adeno-associated virus that could greatly expand gene therapy to help restore sight to patients with blinding diseases like retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration. Over the last six years, several teams of scientists have successfully treated people with a rare inherited eye disease by injecting a virus with a normal gene directly into the retina of an eye with a defective gene. Despite the invasive process, the virus with the normal gene was not capable of reaching all the retinal cells that need fixing.

Intel is going to launch an 8 core CPU series for desktops in 2014 for the enthusiast grade Haswell-E platform. all eyes turn to the 2014 Haswell-E enthusiast grade platform. The world semiconductor leader will be stepping up its game a notch and offer an 8 core desktop CPU for the first time (the biggest leap since the introduction of 6 core CPUs a couple of years back). Perhaps this sudden urge to deliver 8 cores comes with the fact that Haswell will not be succeeded by Broadwell 14nm Tick in 2014.

In yet another leaked slide that surfaced on the web we can now see Core i7 4960XK, 4820K 4960X Ivy Bridge-E and their specs as well. Honestly very very early benchmarks already have shown that the upcoming Intel Core i7-4960 Ivy Bridge-E processors will deliver only 5 percent to 10 percent better performance than their Sandy Bridge-E predecessor. But still. The chart also exposes dual-core Core i3 Haswell processors.

NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 760 is expected to arrive on June 25th, a bit later than the "mid-June" launch date that was previously rumored. The GeForce GTX 760 is reportedly based on the GeForce GTX 670, but with higher clockspeeds and a lower price, thereby significantly improving the price/performance ratio.

As mentioned in our review, Gigabyte announced its big brother of the GeForce GTX 770 WindForce 3X graphics card, it will be released with 4 GB of graphics  memory. With its WindForce 3X cooler and Its factory overclock allowing it to close in towards GTX 780 performance it is a nice card alriggt. Next to that the dual-slot cooler will keep the card under 70 Degrees C at full load and it is totally silent.  This 4GB WindForce 3x OC edition that comes factory clocked for you at 1137 MHz (Ref 1046) with a Boost clock of 1189 MHz (Ref 1085). Next to that, the GTX 770 series memory clock has been increased as well, at an effective data-rate of 7010 MHz.

NEC released another one of its upcoming dual-band WiFi router, the Aterm WF800HP. Corresponding to the ‘Draft 11ac’ (the new standard for wireless LAN IEEE802.11ac), the Aterm WF800HP comes with one Internet LAN port, three LAN ports and supports for dual-band WiFi access point (2.4GHz – 300Mbps and 5GHz – 433Mbps). The Aterm WF800HP will begin shipping from June 20th for 9,500 Yen (about $96).

ICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson confirmed to PC Gamer at E3 that Battlefield 4 will not support mods. Troedsson caveated that user-generated content is something that DICE finds very interesting, and that its something the studio has been talking about at a high level.

Intel will almost entirely limit overclocking support on its Haswell processors, forcing enthusiasts who want to overclock to get the more expensive K-series parts because the non-K series parts will no longer have limited multiplier control. One benefit of the new K-series is that they will have additional base clock straps, but the downside is that the K-series lacks the TSX extensions, as well as the VT-d device virtualization and vPro management features.

After three years and millions of warning letters, the French three-strikes anti-piracy law "Hadopi" has resulted in the first Internet disconnection. The customer in question will be without Internet access for two weeks and must also pay a 600 euro fine. Quoting officials, PC Inpact reports that the file-sharer was caught sharing one or two files and failed to respond to earlier warnings. If no appeal is filed within 10 days the file-sharer's Internet provider will move forward with the disconnection.

Haswell desktop processors debuted last week, and, as was the case with Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge launches, the initial lineup consisted of Core i5 and i7 quad-core models. Less expensive products, such as Core i3 and Pentium CPUs, were expected later this year, but we didn't have much information about specific SKUs up until now. Guru3D's own Asder recently stumbled on a few slides from Intel desktop roadmap, that shed more light on Haswell mid-range lineup. The roadmap shows several Core i3 and Pentium model numbers, and we were able to confirm them using another source. The roadmap slides, originally published in the last week of May, also mention Haswell refresh.

Electronic Arts recently abandoned its online pass requirement for multiplayer gaming on current-generation consoles, leading some to speculate that the company asked Microsoft for Xbox One's digital rights management technology. According to an EA executive, however, that isn't the case.

The hefty DRM and always online restrictions of the upcoming XBOX One is giving Microsoft a lot of heat, that's next to high purchase price of course. Microsoft however responded, if you can't go online .. get the Xbox 360 instead. Hilarious. Engadget reports Microsoft just had an "let them eat cake" moment. In an interview, Xbox chief Don Mattrick responded to the backlash over the Xbox One requiring an Internet connecting by pointing out that "we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called Xbox 360.":

Microsoft rolled out updates for 19 vulnerabilities on Tuesday. The batch of updates include a critical fix for a vulnerability that affects all versions of Internet Explorer, from IE6 to E10, on all supported versions of Windows.
