Hi guys,
I really don't know why this technology isn't more popular than it is - perhaps people just aren't aware of it?
As described above, the idea is simple. With a pair of LCD shutter glasses, you can get a 3D image on your computer monitor.
While results will be mixed depending on your hardware setup and the quality of your binocular vision, you can expect to get a powerful 3D effect when playing DirectX and OpenGL games.
It has really enhanced my experience with BF2, Fear, and COD2.
To get a decent pair of glasses, you're only looking at about $30 on Ebay. The brand name doesn't really matter as long as NVIDIA recognizes it in driver support.
Some caveats:
Driver selection and availability is limited. If the 82.12 beta doesn't work for you, you will need to roll your video and stereo drivers back to version 78.01.
While Edimensional glasses now support LCD, CRT monitors are really the way to go.
Not all games are compatible. I'd say 90% compatibility is pretty accurate. Unforunately, once you get these glasses working, you are really going to miss that 10%.
I'm afraid NVIDIA cards are your only option. Yes, Edimensional has some ATI support, but the word on the street is the compatibility and quality are mediocre at best.
Prepare to tweak. This is not an out-of-the box solution. You are going to be doing a lot of experimenting to find what works best for you. But once you're rolling - you will be really happy with the results.
I only mention Edimensional because they are actively selling these glasses and offering proprietary driver support. HOWEVER, this technology is not brand specific, and there are multiple stereo 3d solutions to select from.
For example, I'm using X3D glasses. The company is out of business, but I got a pair off Ebay, and NVIDIA supports them the same way they do with other shutterglasses.
Here are some websites to look through:

http://www.stereo3d.com (look at the forums)
http://www.gsoftware.se/stereo/ (get stereo game profiles to make tweaking easier!)
