Guru3D Discovers who Top Gear's "The Stig" really is !

(well sort off).

Yesterday Guru3D attended a press-conference from Intel. The press conference was about the latest desktop and mobile Core i3/i5 series products with their respective features. You guys have been able to read all about the latest processors here are Guru3D.com when they launched on January the 3rd. You can read our Core i5 650 - 660 and 661 processor review right here.

The press conference was held at the RAI in Amsterdam where the Top Gear live show also is held for three days (great show btw - should it be held in your country and you like Top gear ? Then definitely go). The Intel press conference was therefore named and styled after the popular automotive show and the presentation labeled at "Top Core". There was a surprising moment when no-one else other than the  Stig actually arrived on scene holding a nice 32nm Clarkdale wafer. We have some footage of that which we'd like to show you, have a look and sorry for the low quality video and lag - something in the video transcoding process seems to have an issue and causing some small hiccups:

So there you have it guys, the Stig unveiled. No-one knew that he would be Jan Schouten - RCO at Intel Benelux. We could have known though, some say he eats Pentium 4 cores in the morning just to have a good breakfast.

After the prank and during the presentation obviously the entire new line of processors was introduced which include the Core i3 530 and 540 models, as well as the Core i5 650, 660, 661, and 670, which will be featured with Hyper-Threading, 4MB of L3 cache and support for dual-channel DDR3-1333 memory next to the mobile line-up that is.

As stated we have already published an in-depth review on Core i5 650 - 660 and 661 and with a bit of luck we'll add Core i3 results next week as well. Let's check the next video clip:

In the presentation a representative from CodeMasters was attending and talking about the importance of multi-threaded support in the Core series processors but also briefly touching the subject 3D gaming which apparently caught Intel's interest as well. This is a very low-level generic interview, interesting none the less.

Again, more on Intel and Core i3 next week along with a couple of pending H55/57 motherboards reviews soon. And on that bombshell .. good night, and have a good weekend !
