EVGA Classified SR-2 is a dual-socket motherboard announced
By Hilbert Hagedoorn, March 17, 2010 - 9:14 PM N/A

eVGA today officially releases a board we've been talking about a lot. They launched the Classified SR-2, nicknamed "mother of all motherboards". This is a dual-socket Intel 5520 chipset based server motherboard dressed up for hardware enthusiasts, it supports 4-way SLI, has 8-phase PWM, support for up to 48GB DDR3 memory, USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps.

The motherboard uses the new, huge HPTX form factor that measures 15" x 13.6". EVGA warns the motherboard will only fit in wide ATX cases with 9 or more expansion slots, and that it is possible that mods may be required for a correct fit in the chassis. You can check out the full specifications over here.

We are proud to present the EVGA Classified SR-2, the absolute ultimate for the extreme user. It takes everything that made the X58 Classified 4-way SLI motherboard great and doubled it up. Now you can experience the ultimate in overclocked multithreaded performance by way of Dual 1366 sockets which allow for hyperthreaded Intel Xeon CPU’s to be combined together for massive amounts of workload to be spread across a multitude of processing threads.

When combined with compatible Intel 6 Core CPU’s, you create a massive system capable of up to 24 CPU threads of compute power. If you want futureproof, this is it!

We have literally created a new form factor to fit all the amazing things on one board. Whether you are an extreme gamer, overclocker, power user, workstation user, server admin, folder/cruncher, or just a PC enthusiast; this is the ultimate motherboard. This board will encode your movies, render your images, or even load your games faster than you ever thought possible.

To power a system based on the EVGA Classified SR-2 motherboard you will need a powerful PSU, and EVGA will offer this in the form of the EVGA Classified SR-2. This seems to be a rebrand of the Antec TPQ 1200W, the unit is rated at 1200W and can deliver a peak power of over 1500W. It has six +12V rails rated at 38A each, adjustable +12V rail, and adjustable fan speed.
